Sales of single-family homes in Massachusetts up 21%

Good news for the Massachusetts housing market—sales of single-family homes increase by an astonishing 21% in October compared to last year’s figures.

Furthermore, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors reported that October was the 16th consecutive month where sales were higher than during the same month in the previous year.

In addition, the group also reported a 4.4% increase in the median price of single family homes sold in October. This increase marks the first time since the expiration of the federal home buyer tax credit that prices have increased so drastically.

However, these figures are contested. Other real estate groups state that the prices were relatively unchanged. Regardless, most realtors are in agreement: the housing market is on the mend.
