What’s Shakin’ Boston?

Brace yourselves Boston – the phenomenal Shake Shack is making its way here next year! The chain is set to open its first store at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center next year. I had the pleasure of enjoying one of Shake Shack’s burgers at their brand new New Haven, Connecticut location this weekend. Although the line was out the door, the wait was well worth it. The delicious, high quality, made-to-order burger was complemented by excellent customer service, a contemporary environment, and an incredible vanilla shake.

Shake Shack was established in 2003 in Madison Square Park in Manhattan. Interestingly, the burger joint sprouted from a hot dog cart created by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) to support a nearby art installation. Just a year later the cart won a bid to open a permanent kiosk. The cart expanded to sell burgers, frozen custard, shakes, beer, and wine. It was even named “Best Burger 2005” by New York magazine.

After operating from a kiosk for three summers, Shake Shack is about to expand nationally. There are currently 14 restaurants within the chain and it continuous to grow with numerous new locations in the works.

Take a look at the Cooking Channel video below for more about Shake Shack and why this unique hamburger chain is so successful! Disclaimer: you will be hungry afterwards.

If you aren’t convinced that Shake Shack will be the best thing that has happened to Boston in a long time, just ask this woman who enjoyed her post-wedding meal at the burger joint last year.
