Northshore Mall Promenade Renovation To Include New Dining, Retail

PEABODY, MA — A final phase of construction and redevelopment will usher in more high-profile dining and retail operators at the Northshore Mall in 2023.

Simon Property Group, which operates the shopping center, said Phase 2 of The Promenade redevelopment has begun with Arhuas, L.L. Bean and sweetgreen among the retailers expected to open in Peabody this year.

“When we began the redevelopment, we focused on maintaining and building upon our strong mix of traditional stores carrying items for a wide range of shoppers, while also expanding our mix of services, dining, entertainment and recreational activities,” Simon Property Group at Northshore Mall General Manager Mark Whiting said. “Simon continues to reinvest in its properties, providing new and exciting shopping, dining and entertainment options to match our shoppers’ evolving wants and needs.

“The overall redevelopment has created a hub where the community can play, shop and utilize a wide array of services.”

The mall looked to buck the industry trend away from brick-and-mortar retail locations in 2017 when it began to redevelop the Route 114-facing side of the building with a new dining area and creation of “The Promenade” to include outdoor and patio seating, as well as community stage.

The 116,000-square-foot SF Life Time Athletic Resort opened in 2020, along with the additions of Golf Lounge 18, Tesla, Chase, PrêtteBlowdry + Esthetics, and The Double Bull Taphouse.
