South End’s Olde Dutch Cottage Candy Makes Way for Luxury Condominiums

Today, PEG Properties & Design began deconstructing the historic South End’s Old Dutch Cottage Candy store. The store, which is considered to be South End’s oldest free standing retail store [Bostonglobe.com], will make way for a beautiful new condominium building, which is to be priced at around $3 Million per unit. The condominium building, elegantly named Chevron on Tremont, is one of the first condominium projects to set its sights on the South End since the recession. The magnitude of this project is not comparable to that of projects taking place in Downtown Crossing; however, many locals are looking forward to a beautiful building replacing the aged Olde Dutch Cottage Candy store.

Worried about where you’ll get your candy fix? The store owner has confirmed that the Olde Dutch will reopen in the retail space located under the condominiums. Hoorah!
