Ideal for producing tough, durable and long-lasting 3D printed parts, these polyurethane resins are the latest innovative materials available for Formlabs’ SLA printers

Somerville, MA – May 17, 2022 – Formlabs, the leading 3D printing company, today announced PU Rigid 650 Resin and PU Rigid 1000 Resin at RAPID + TCT 2022, North America’s largest and most influential additive manufacturing event. As the latest 3D printing materials to be added to Formlabs’ engineering resin library, PU Rigid 650 Resin and PU Rigid 1000 Resin are available for use on the Form 2, Form 3, Form 3+, Form 3B and Form 3B+, Formlabs’ Stereolithography (SLA) printers. These high-performance polyurethane materials are ideal for producing rigid and durable parts and are the toughest materials to be added to Formlabs’ SLA ecosystem.

Both materials enable users to break free of the limitations of traditional polyurethane manufacturing with newfound design freedom, reduced production costs, and increased workflow efficiencies. PU Rigid 650 Resin can be used to produce impact resistant and pliable parts that can maintain dimensional accuracy under load, while PU Rigid 1000 Resin can be used to produce semi-stiff, sturdy and unyielding parts that repeatedly endure high stress environments.

“We’re thrilled to debut these innovative polyurethane resins as we continue to expand our materials library and unlock new possibilities with 3D printing,” said Dávid Lakatos, Chief Product Officer at Formlabs. “PU Rigid 650 Resin and PU Rigid 1000 Resin build upon the existing capabilities of Formlabs’ SLA printers to provide manufacturers, engineers, and product designers with the ability to produce polyurethane parts that can withstand extreme manufacturing environments and design requirements.”

Both materials can be utilized across various industries such as manufacturing, medical, automotive, aerospace, industrial and consumer. Applications for PU Rigid 650 Resin include high-performance connectors such as hinges and snap fits, and impact resistant components like wheels, bumpers and grommets. PU Rigid 1000 Resin is best used to create jigs and fixtures, castings and enclosures, and sturdy consumer products such as bottle caps, buckles and bike pedals. With the mission of enabling anyone to make anything, Formlabs’ entry into 3D printed polyurethane materials greatly expands access to enhanced prototyping capabilities and the ability to create durable, long-lasting end-use parts.

Attendees at this year’s RAPID event will be able to see the new polyurethane materials on site at the Formlabs booth #2608 where the company will showcase the versatility and use cases of both resins. Click here for media assets. For more information, visit formlabs.com.
