Boston-based real estate firm Rise has struck a deal for a 123-acre site in Braintree where it plans to build a campus for movie and television productions, reported the Boston Business Journal. The development construction firm has a purchase-and-sale agreement with Boston’s Onshore Properties for Banner Parkplans to develop 272,500 square feet of office and industrial space for sound stages as well as pre- and post-production facilities.

The Business Journal reported that the move marks a new direction for Rise, which specializes in residential buildings in and around Boston but has branched out through a massive proposed development in Sullivan Square in Charlestown that is to include life sciences labs, office, residential and more.

“It is rare to have the opportunity to work with a movie studio component within such a dynamic campus,” Rise founder Herby Duverné said in a statement. “Braintree is a wonderful community, and we are looking forward to the conversations with neighbors as we move forward with this exciting project.”
