Boston’s first music festival – Boston Calling

The City of Boston is getting it’s first major rock-festival—Boston Calling Music Festival. The festival is to take place on May 25th and 26th at the City Hall Plaza.

The festival has garnered a lot of attention online after releasing an outstanding lineup of artists. Here is the lineup:

Day 1: FUN., The Shins, Marina & the Diamonds, Matt & Kim, Portugal. The Man, Cults, Ms Mr, St. Lucia, and Bad Rabbits.

Day 2: The National, Of Monsters and Men, Young the Giant, Andrew Bird, Dirty Projectors, Ra Ra Riot, The Walkmen, Youth Lagoon, and Caspian.

The festival has an incredible mixture of well-established bands as well as up-and-comers. FUN.—who recently won best new artist at the Grammys—is head lining the first night of the show.

Indie-pop artists are also well-represented at the show.  Notably, Marina & the Diamonds will be performing after finishing multiple North American and European tours. Her tour, dubbed ‘The Lonely Hearts Tour’ has sold out across America leading to a multitude of venue upgrades to accommodate demand.

Matt & Kim, who frequent Boston often, will be performing songs from their new album Lightning. Check out their new video for It’s Alright  released earlier this week:

In my opinion, the artist to watch at this festival—aside from the head liners, of course—is Ms Mr. The relatively unknown indie-pop duo have been making waves online and in the United Kingdom where they are performing a slew of festivals this summer. Watch their new video, Fantasy, below:

Regardless of your taste, Boston Calling has something for everyone. For only 120 dollars you can catch all these artists. Make sure to purchase your early bird pass on Friday, March 1st .
