Capella raises $7.1M

Cappella, Inc, a cardiovascular medical device company, has raised $7.1 million as part of its fifth round of funding. The company, with U.S. operations in Westford, Mass., has headquarters in Galway, Ireland. Capella has raised at least $52.1 million to date from investors including Ireland-based Fountain Healthcare Partners, Menlo Park, Cal.-based Mitsui & Co. Venture Partner, Munich, Germany-based Polytechnos Partners and Ireland-based ACT Venture Capital.

The company was founded in 2004. Cappella received European regulatory approval for its first product, called the Sideguard Coronary Sidebranch Stent & Delivery System, in April 2009. It has not yet been approved in the U.S.
