Nova Biomedical buys Billerica facility

Nova Biomedical, a developer of blood analyzers that support the care of critically ill patients, has purchased a manufacturing facility in Billerica, said a broker involved in the transaction.

The broker is Grubb & Ellis Co., which represented Nova Biomedical. A purchase price is not being disclosed. The seller was Independence Drive Limited Partnership.

Plans call for the relocation and expansion of Nova’s manufacturing and warehousing operations from 205 Burlington Rd. in Bedford to 39 Manning Rd. in Billerica, Grubb & Ellis said; Nova’s office and research-and-development functions will remain at the company’s headquarters in Waltham.

Nova’s new space in Billerica offers roughly 80,000 square feet of space, Grubb & Ellis said.

“The building, which is almost 30,000 square feet larger than the company’s previous location, provides much-needed expansion space for this growing company,” Jack Kerrigan, executive vice president of Grubb & Ellis’s office group, said in a statement.
