The owner of Eat Drink Laugh Restaurant Group, Michael Conlon, will be opening a small eatery on Long Wharf after a four year dispute with North End residents. This legal battle began because the residents believe that the new restaurant will only create noise and will eventually damage the image of the Long Wharf.
The dispute was about the 2008 BRA decision that allowed the construction of the restaurant. The residents won a lower court decision but on Friday the Supreme Judicial court ruled in favor of BRA’s decision.
The court decided that Conlon can proceed with his plans to build the small eatery. The proposal stated that it will be an 80 seat restaurant with indoor and outdoor sections and it will be called Doc’s.
‘A spokeswoman for The Boston Redevelopment Authority said in a statement, “We are pleased with the SJC’s decision. It paves the way for Boston to have yet another great waterfront destination that will be enjoyed by all of our residents and visitors alike.”’ (boston.com)
